Spiced Sangria Recipe

A Spanish themed birthday party cannot happen with lots of sangria. I’ve made this spice-infused sangria before and it was such a hit! Since the tapas and paella have subtle flavors of spices and herbs, it marries well paella!

Spiced Sangria Recipe
ingredients
- 1 cup water
- ¼ cup sugar
- 4 tar anise pods
- ½ tsp whole black peppercorn
- ½ tsp whole cloves
- 6 cardamom pods
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 2-inch ginger, sliced
- 1 bottle dry red wine
- 1 orange, juiced
- ½ cup light rum
- ¼ cup brandy
- ¼ cup triple sec
- ½ cup lemon-lime soda
- 2 oranges, sliced
- 1 lime, sliced
- 1 lemon, sliced
- 2 apples, cubed
- 1 pear, cubed
- ice cube
method
In a saucepan, stir in the water, sugar, spices, and ginger over high heat. Simmer and bring down to medium-heat and stir until sugar dissolved and reduced by one-third. Set aside and let the simple syrup cool.
In a pitcher, stir in the orange juice, alcohol, fruit, and simple syrup and place in refrigerator overnight. Stir in the rest of the ingredients and serve over ice.
