This is my first time ever working in corporate. I never had an internship in corporate and I never had the urge to work in corporate before I did my masters. It wasn’t a decision I intended for, but it just panned out that way. When I got offered an opportunity at the oil and gas company I work at today, I knew I had to take the position to learn the nuances and the industry to move closer to the career I had envisioned. What I also didn’t envision was struggling with the dress code. We have a pretty strict dress code and most people in the office are in suits. Unfortunately, my team is made up of just one other woman and we’re always trying to navigate how to best display our personalities through what we wear in the office and that’s where we have the floral office outfit idea!
It can be grim wearing a suit everyday, but I was determined to change it up a little bit. Sometimes I’ll avoid the idea of a blazer and go for layering a dress with a shirt, like I have here. It’s the easiest way to still look corporate professional, but make it a bit more personal. This floral office outfit was something I put together that made me feel more like me rather than just another corporate goer.
A floral office outfit is pretty easy to achieve! Go for a dark colored floral dress and layer it with a shirt if it’s sleeveless and then throw a tailored coat over it. I’m tempted to find a subtle floral blazer to incorporate into a classic look! Have you ever tried a floral office outfit?
