A Very London Holiday

A Very London Holiday

Now that December is finally upon us, it seems days are equally long and short. It becomes dark too early, but the glimmering lights and the shimmering glass ornaments have taken the place of the sun. And I’m quite alright with that. London is quite magical this time of the year, and though it’s not my first time, I still find moments where I’m completely mesmerized and in awe of the holiday spirit!

Last weekend I perused the holiday markets in Hyde Park. From rides to sweet treats and endless mulled wine under a dark sky. It was the perfect romantic escape. Smiles were exchanged and children’s laughter filled the air and the atmosphere felt right. Holding a warm hand, since you forgot your gloves, and kisses on pink noses. I can’t describe to you enough how this time of the year is utterly perfect in every single way as we completely emancipate from our daily routine and embrace the days of advent.

I want to come up with a bucket list of Christmas things to do in London and try to tick them off for each holiday season I’m here! There are special afternoon teas, markets, and even shows. All the streets also dress up in the most colorful lights and designs! My favorite part of the city during Christmas is probably Mayfair. All the arcades are dressed with wreaths and lights and the original architecture and design make the holiday season in London look so grand.

These photos were taken in Leadenhall Market in East London. It’s right in the middle of the banking sector and a lovely little escape if you’re looking to beat tourists. I would recommend visiting on the weekend as the offices surrounding the market are closed and you will get the whole place to yourself!
